IN DUE SEASON

God has set up seasons in our lives. It's easy to get frustrated when our dreams aren't coming to pass on our timetable, but every season is not harvest season. There are plowing seasons. There are planting seasons. There are watering seasons. Sure, we would love for every season to be a time of increase left and right, good breaks here and there. But without the other seasons, we wouldn't be prepared. For example, it's during the plowing seasons that God brings issues to light that we need to deal with. He's getting us prepared for promotion.
If you're not making as much progress as you would like, the key is to not lose any ground. Don't go backwards. Hold your position. Keep a good attitude and do the right thing even when it's hard. When you do that, you are passing the test, and God promises that your due season of harvest is coming. Be encouraged because your appointed time of increase, favor, and promotion is on its way, and He will fulfill every dream and desire He's placed within your heart!

"Father God, I bless You today. I thank You for preparing me for the blessing and promotion You have in my future. I surrender my heart, mind, will and emotions to You so that I can live as a testimony of Your work in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

So I'm back to my reading whatever I can get my hands on mode. I'm a huge fan of success stories because they usually start with a dream and a journey. I've always been fascinated with Hugh Hefner but not because of the obvious. He's brilliant. He is the original lifestyle specialist. He's build a brand around himself in addition to shaping societies views. As a businessman, he's a complete visionary. As I continue with my reading adventures ill continue to share some of the interesting people I run across.

Sidebar: there's no question you can ask that someone hasn't written the answer to ...there's an answer somewhere in some book - Will Smith (I can't remember the interview though)

2day started off kinda off. I woke up with a heavy heart but I wasn't really 100% sure why. I've actually been waking up like that all week and I'm not sure what's been bothering me. I went to the gym and had a fantastic work out in the process received an answer to one of my prayers. In addition, I found my motivation 2 pursue an idea I've been sitting on. I've been overly excited about the red bull soap box derby for weeks, but got there an hour late not 2 mention the 30mins it took 2 find parking. No biggie, just happy 2 b there and had a blast. One of my favorite people, Fadia was there and we ended up grabbing a bite to eat afterwards. Always good times with her but ended up with a stomach ache. Still no biggie, just blessed 2 have the means 2 eat out and 2 enjoy the company. Between the sun and the food I'm drained. When I get home I forget to go pick up these shoes on hold so I rush out the door but I get there and the stores closed. No biggie, ill just go by 2morrow. In the process I sent a reckless text 2 the wrong person, smh. Now my day wasn't terrible it just seemed off. I had plans 2 be in the streets 2nite but I'm kinda nervous about what will happen next so maybe I should stay put, stay away from all phones, social networks, etc until 2morrow at least.

So last night I talked to a really good friend of mine. The initial conversation was about pride and forgiveness and ended up with us discussing relationships. As you get older life seems to get more and more complicated but I think we make it more and more complicated. We reach an age where we think we're grown and you can't tell us anything and we make decisions accordingly. We usually learn the hard way but there comes a point where all the lessons pile up and we have to deal with those consequences. The problem with that is that it usually prevents us from being able to move forward in our lives. Relationships are usually trial and error. There comes a point when you finally meet someone who changes your entire outlook and in your heart you feel they're the one. As excited as you are about the possibilities, all those lessons learned in the past choose that moment to come back to haunt you. It becomes a road block or baggage whichever you prefer to use. Now I listened to my friend talk about finding the love of their life but they can't be together it was a little disappointing. They have both acknowledged that they'd always love each other even though they couldn't be together. And although they both have moved on with new people it wasn't the same because they hadn't found a love to match the one they shared. So as I listened I felt bad for their new partners that had no clue that they were second. so I guess that left me with a few questions: #1..is it fair that the new mates not know that they haven't gotten over their ex's yet? #2.. should they be moving on with new people even though they can't seem to work it out? #3.. and do you think that you're always going to be someone's 2nd love or can you share a mutual love with someone?

Now I'm not sure if you've ever been to a spa or at least get manicure/pedicures, but if you don't you should. Yesterday I was getting a pedicure when I looked around and realized that I was the only man in the spa. I asked if there were any other men and the hostess told me only one other man was there. I thought it was kinda odd but over looked the thought until a woman commented on how nice it was to see a man pampering himself. What is that about? Why don't more men get manicures/pedicures? For that matter, go to spas and get massages or skin treatments? Initially its a little awkward but the more consistent you go the more you appreciate it. Not to mention its great to be pampered occasionally.

I have to mention lunch. It was catered by a TaDa! Special Event Planning & Catering . But according to what city the tour is in dictates the menu. I'm not sure what I was expecting but the food was jammin! The cornbread taste like a cupcake, the ribs fell off the bone, the grits had no cheese but might have been the best I ever had. Needless to say, after being in the sun all day & then eating that fantastic lunch I was done.

I had so much fun yesterday at the warp tour. The guy who produces the tour also started lolapalooza and a part of woodstock. There's like 8 stages & bands performing from 11a until about 8p on all stages. Crazy!!! I'm convinced I was a drummer in a former life. The energy was amazing and they all have a cult following. I'm a new fan of UnderOath, a day to remember,the millionaires and I finally got to see Cash Cash. I believe the tour is in Cincinnati today and the final date is towards the end of august in L.A. Definitely look into it and see when the tour comes to your city.

AFTER THE TALK

A few weeks back I had "the talk" and of course it didn't end well. Its kinda hard to imagine someone who made you feel like you could conquer the world would no longer be around during your journey. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't messed up initially, which is usually the case because one party has already made peace with things before the other. Needless to say, what doesn't kill you definitely makes you stronger and life is a constant lesson. I've really learned a lot about forgiveness recently and being held accountable for our actions. In life, when someone close to us hurts us we usually develop tunnel vision. We're so busy being angry at what the other did to us that we can't see how we've hurt them. It usually doesn't register until we can place our own feelings aside so that we can be receptive to the others feelings. Which is great to do because that probably means we have or we're open to forgiving that individual for wronging us. But the problem now is the guilt we feel for hurting the other person. That guilt can hold us captive and start to mess with our self esteem and eventually affect our happiness. We start to question what we've could've done differently, our mind races, and we really feel like we may have possibly loss the best thing we ever had. Guilt is a funny thing. And we have to learn to forgive ourselves to be completely released from the cage we put ourselves in. The plus is that life is a constant adventure and we don't really know what's in store for us. The best up to that point can't compete with the best person for us. Reaching a place of peace is an amazing feeling after going through so much emotional distress. It feels like starting life over. I have had so much fun this past month and gained so much perspective in the process. Letting go and moving forward with our life doesn't happen until we can truly forgive. Forgiving others and finally forgiving ourselves frees us up for that something special that's ahead for us. Life is a constant blessing.

When someone we care about wrongs us one of the hardest things to do is to forgive them wholeheartedly. And when I say wholeheartedly I mean forgiving and forgetting. I heard a really great message the other day entitled "letting go and moving on" that was very timely. Now without getting on a soap box, the lesson was very simple. When you're wronged and someone apologizes to you for that wrong you should accept that apology and let it go. We miss our future blessings when we hold grudges because it keeps us stagnant. Its just a thought...

Let's talk never ends well

So I had "the talk" early this morning and of course it didn't end well but I honestly wasn't surprised. All the cliché relationship lines raced through my head ...actions speak louder than words ...you get out of something what you put into it ...never make someone a priority who only makes you an option ...etc. I think I had made peace with it a long time ago, it was just about getting closure. I'm still trying to shake that dumb feeling when I think about how I put myself out there or when actions already told me what I needed to know. I'm not even sure how I got myself in the position in the first place. I'm always impressed with the things that are said during "the talk" that should've been said long before that could've possibly changed the outcome. Now I think the part I don't quite understand is the "let's be friends" part. I think towards the end of relationships one person has already placed the other in a position of just a friend before the other party is aware of it. They want to continue on with life as if the new position is suppose to sit well with them. They're suppose to be ok with seeing other people while they get demoted to the person you get around to when they have nothing else to do. That friend thing is tricky and I think both parties should go their separate ways for awhile to get past the emotional attachment part and see what's left after everyone's gotten past the hurt. But expecting someone to be your friend soon after is selfish and going to be more stressful. Needless to say, life is short and we only get one. A life without love is a life wasted. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Fat Kids Clubs meeting this morning at the Social House, and I had such a good time. The breakfast was so jammin but a lot of times its the company that makes things so much better. FKC is something I'd encourage you to start with your friends. It just a name and not meant to offend, but food does bring people together. Life can be so hectic and draining sometimes and its good to have an outlet or a little time to forget about all that. Love the FKC, ill try to remember to post our locations and our eats in the future.

Ok, so I hadn't been to the gym for about 3/4 days and went yesterday but really half a**'ed it so today I was planning to pay my dues. I get to the gym, find a great parking space in the front, get out & hit the key lock but the door doesn't lock. Odd. I put the key in the door and it wouldn't lock so I put the key in the ignition and turned the key. Nothing. I looked at the car the car looking back at me,smh. My battery was dead. Luckily, one of the guys I see in the gym had some jumper cables. So as we're trying to get the car jumped I'm starting to notice more and more women walking past and they all seem to give me the disappointed face as they notice what's going on,smh. We eventually get the car started and I offer to take them to lunch. They both declined and told me not to sweat it, people today have forgotten how to help each other out. It was real cool of them. Needless to say, I didn't make it to the gym but rushed off to get a new battery with no plans of turning of the car until I got to the shop.

..all you had to do was mention McDonald's breakfast and I was all teeth. This morning I was at the hospital waiting on my mom who was having out patient surgery and it was pretty early so there weren't a lot of options. I walked past the McDonald's counter 3xs before I eventually gave in. Why the hot cakes plate I don't know, but it seemed like a good idea initially. I caught a good nap right afterwards but was awakened by a shooting pain up and down my side. Thank God I was in a hospital because "death" is immediately what comes to mind when I think back on the repercussions of my breakfast selection. SMH!

Sesame Workshop, the non-profit producer of Sesame Street and other kids' programs, is cutting about one-fifth of its workforce because of the economic downturn.The company said Wednesday that it's eliminating 67 of 355 staff positions. Declaring it is "not immune to the unprecedented challenges of today's economic environment," the company pronounced a need "to operate with fewer resources in order to achieve our strategic priorities."

I've been weighing the pros and cons of beginning yet another challenge. The ice cream challenge was fun and everyone sent me suggestions and a few contributed. I ended up having a little extra work at the gym but it may have been worth it. Well I'm thinking of starting a smoothie challenge. I don't drink coffee but have an odd fascination with coffee shops, so I usually end up having a smoothie. I tried Joe's Coffee Shop in East Atlanta Village just out of curiosity. The smoothie ended up being the least of my concerns by nights end. After about 15-20 minutes of being there, this random guy walks over to us and throws some papers down on the stool in front of me and proceeds to tell me that I'm sitting in his seat but it's no big deal. I dismissed it and he walked off then came back 5 minutes later basically demanding we move. It was all kind of funny considering that he was too old to say to anyone, "that's my seat!" He stood in front of me making rude remarks and drawing allot of unnecessary attention in my direction until the guy behind the counter came over. He was real cool about it, grabbed his stuff and basically told him to move somewhere else. I think he was a regular. The guy went so far as to find and an open sofa, walk back over to me, and then tell me to move over there. I calmly drank my smoothie and just stared at him in disbelief. When he finally left the girl in the sofa across from me whispered, "he does that all the time!" Oh and the smoothie was decent.

OK, so apparently I'm late but I have just been introduced to the American girl doll. The store itself is huge but from what i was told doesn't compare to the store in other cities. But girls come into the store and pick out dolls that most resemble them. Then they pick out their outfits at which time they can also get the same outfit for themselves. now that the little girl and her doll match she can take the doll over to the hair salon where she can get the dolls hair washed and styled. And yes, there are numerous options for the dolls hair. After that tedious day, the girl can take her doll over to the diner and get a high chair so that the doll and the girl can eat together. It was the wildest thing i had seen all day. And everything cost so you're not leaving there without spending at least $100 or so dollars. Check to see if theres a store in your city and see for yourself.

Really great weekend but didn't document most of it. I hit a little rough patch but my weekend turned out better than expected. I decided to relax on Sunday and went antiquing in downtown Roswell. I had a blast and found a few extras for the house. Actually, I've been here all my life and there are so many cities I'm familiar with but never really experienced. So as much as I love traveling, I've purposed to get better acquainted with my own state.

It's been awhile since my last update, but I have a very good excuse this time-my computers were stolen. See! I told you it was a good excuse. It's a bit of a long story but the short end was I came home from the gym and found the flat screens, Sterling (my laptop), and Pointdexter (my desktop) were gone. Well, they left the hard drive but took the monitor, the mouse, the speakers, and the web cam. It was all very neat though. They left allot of good stuff and it couldve been so much worse. Although I was relieved to have my hard drive, it was a little unsettling to have someone in my home. But all is well, so you'll have to bear with me on the updates. I'm not sure if I'm planning to replace things right away or just live without for awhile.

SMOOTHIE CHALLENGE.

I have a few oddities that I try to keep to myself but there are those few that are too blatant to ignore. One of those is my love for coffee shops. Maybe it's the atmosphere or the popularity but I will spend large amounts of time in them. The odd part comes into play because I don't like coffee. I actually prefer tea but i just found out my tea shop closed, not enough business i guess. go figure! Not to mention, asking someone to join you for a cup of tea doesn't really sound to impressive. Anyway, while i was in Inman Perk the other night i was having a smoothie and realized that i do have smoothies allot at coffee shops. so i decided to pay more attention and share my smoothie experiences with you as well as my coffee shop adventures. i think this summer will be my coffee house smoothie challenge. are you excited? eh, not even a little?

And in case you were wondering, i had a super blast (i think that's what it was called) smoothie that was just a mixture of all the berries and it was pretty impressive. You remember my jack in the box romance last month, well it wasn't' quite as good but it was a close second.

On my continued adventure to learn about my neighborhood and its surrounding areas i ended up at a small restaurant off to the side called Feast. It's actually a pretty nice place, very low key, intimate, and the service is decent. Now if you've been following my sad attempts at eating better then you'll know that I'm limited to only a few luxuries which i refuse to part ways with because I'm addicted to sweets. I thought I'd try the vanilla bean crème brulée which is a fancy name for custard. It wasn't bad especially if you like custard but the texture bothered me a little. Now there's a key lime pound cake that will make up for the custard if you need an option. The prices are decent but not necessarily cheap, so if you're feeling adventurous go check it out and let me know you're thoughts.

I think the more I give it a chance, the more I'm really loving my neighborhood. I love that it's so quiet and that it's just far enough from downtown that I can escape when i need to. There's always something going on, and since I've decided to stop being anti-social I've found allot of new places. There was a gallery showing at Mudfire Gallery the other night. Just out of curiosity, I peeked my head in. Apparently, you take pottery classes there and after you finish the classes they have a gallery showing of all the students works and put them up for sale. I thought that was kinda interesting and little unsettling, what if no one wants your stuff-YIKES!?!?
